Lebialem: Governor Okalia Bilai Calls on Lebialem Population to Stop Supporting Amba Fighters While Installing New SDO for the Division.
The Governor of the South West region, Bernard Okalia Bilai has frowned at the abandonment of Lebialem Division by inhabitants who have fled the ongoing armed conflict. Lebialem, one of the most enclaved divisions in Cameroon is now in ruins since the escalation of the conflict.
Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai accused the Lebialem sons and daughters in the diaspora of contributing to the destruction of the Division by preventing its development through their support for separation and funding of separatist armed groups.
Senior Civil Administrative authority noted that Lebialem is the only Division in Cameroon that has been completely sacrificed to the wild bush and is uninhabited. According to him, this is because everyone in Menji in particular and Lebialem, in general, is traumatized by hostilities masterminded by nonstate armed groups.
“The population and civil servants are traumatized. It is unbelievable to see a Division like this one with all the resources to enhance development. Other people are in dire need of a division like this one yet here in Lebialem it is rendered useless”. Explained Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai.
The South West boss called on the population of Lebialem who escaped to seek refuge elsewhere to return and give their full support to civil servants and local administrative authorities to bring back life in this Division. He made this call on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, while installing Ambang Fabian KAH as the new SDO for Lebialem recently.

The installation ceremony attended only by a handful of soldiers and civil servants instead took place at the SDO office in Menji, because the ceremonial ground has been covered by wild vegetation.
Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai implored the population of Lebialem to assist the new SDO exercise the duties assigned to him.
