Kenya: Primary Headteachers Break Silence Days After Ruto’s Directive On Junior Secondary Schools

Kenya: Primary Headteachers Break Silence Days After Ruto’s Directive On Junior Secondary Schools. The proposal by the government that Junior Secondary Schools will be domiciled in the current primary schools has now made the primary headteachers react.

Sources say the teachers have welcomed the idea. They have now appreciated Ruto’s move and said that they have the capacity to retain the learners. The spokesperson of the headteachers said that most of the teachers in the primary category are qualified to teach the students. The Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms has also been praised for conducting comprehensive research to help the learners and give the right direction to the government.

The teachers have now said more than 60% of the teachers have furthered their education and are ready to receive the students. President William Ruto has also promised to employ more teachers beginning in January. The government intends to recruit at least 30,000 teachers to cater for a large number of students in the education sector. The teachers have now celebrated the directive to retain grades 6,7 and 8 in primary schools.
