Education/Ghana: Machakos University Closed Indefinitely Over Student’s Unrest. News just in states that Machakos university has been closed indefinitely today and students ordered to vacate the school premises with immediate effect.

The cause of the protests is that a university student who was shot by a police officer on Monday succumbed to death today morning.

According to the reliable source from the Star Kenya, the memo issued by Prof Lucy Irungu who is the institution’s Vice Chancellor says, “Due to the evolving insecurity situation around the university and the ongoing students’ demonstrations, a special meeting convened on December 7, 2022, resolved that in the interest of the security of staff and students, the university be closed with immediate effect. This is, therefore, to inform all students to vacate the university premises with immediate effect. Further communication will be made in due course.”

In conclusion, the cases of student unrest in universities are alarming and the government through relevant authorities should swing into action and correct the mess.
